Southampton Boat Show Exhibitors
Borrow a Boat at Southampton Boat Show
Southampton Boat Show is the biggest and most popular boat show in the entire UK. So, naturally we’re very excited to be sharing our hopes and dreams with the public there again this year. Since our public launch at the London Boat Show last year, Borrow a Boat has gone from strength to strength. We’ve officially set sail on our quest to make people’s boating dreams come true over the last few months! In this post we share our advice for those attending Southampton Boat Show 2018 as well as where to find us and what we’ve got to show you.
Why exhibit at Southampton Boat Show
The history of Southampton itself has much to thank the boats and sailors of the passed for. From rags to riches the city has been an area of focus both as an important trade point and a military target. This year marks fifty years for Southampton Boat Show (SBS) as Britain’s favourite boating festival. It’s just one of British Marine’s world class events and attracts over 106,000 visitors from all over the world. Some are boat owners, some are local residents simply after a fun day out. All in all, it’s the perfect place to work on our mission to get more people boating and more people on the water.
There are around 600 exhibitors and over 100000 sqm of exhibition space to cover so you probably won’t get to every single stand. For the best SBS experience, make sure you give yourself enough time to go for a good mooch through most of the stalls. For the ultimate experience, decide what you want to see before you get there. The city has multiple car parks and a large train station within walking distance from the show so getting there’s easy. If you’re visiting from abroad, fly into Southampton airport and catch a 20 minute bus or taxi ride to the show entrance.
Try-A-Boat at the Southampton Boat Show
As part of our mission to get more people boating and out on the water, we’re sponsoring the new Try-A-Boat feature. Come and see us to try out a boat for 30 minutes or one hour. It’s totally free of charge! Sixteen Borrow a Boat vessels are involved so come early to avoid disappointment and queues. Of course you don’t have to try-a-boat if you don’t fancy it. Instead just come for a nosey or to nab a pair of our Borrow a Boat sunnies. Whatever you come for, we’d love to see you.
You really don’t need to be a boat nerd to enjoy SBS because it’s not all about boats (which would be no bad thing if it were). There are lots of ways to unleash your love of the water from clothes, watersports, engines and beauty therapies to food. Fashionistas, science boffs and engineers will all be in their element. There’s even a gin festival happening at the same time and the Hairy Bikers are in charge of the Show’s waterfront restaurant, the Mariner’s Grill. With so much on offer (as we’ve already hinted) you probably won’t be able to see everything. But on the plus side, you’re guaranteed to see at least a few things of interested or that get you dreaming about purchasing something ocean related.
Borrow A Boat, the App
This has now been live and taking bookings all over the world for five months. We’ve designed the app to help everyone to look for boats nearby and further afield whilst on the go or at home. This platform is ideal if you’re looking to book yourself in for some Winter sun or a sailing adventure. You can download it free from Google Play Store or Apple App Store now.
Boating and sailing is for everyone and if Southampton Boat Show doesn’t convince you of this, we’ll keep trying to! Mission borrow a boat continues…
If you want to give boating a go but haven’t had the opportunity, be sure to come and see Borrow a Boat at Southampton Boat Show 2018. We’re proud sponsors of the Try-A-Boat feature this September. We hope to see you there or even better still, out on the water somewhere else soon!
